Everyone's talking about 2012. High anxieties around finances, economics, politics, earth changes, and everyday life are causing additional stress. Up until recently I, too, have felt fears, discomforts, and overwhelm of all that seems to be falling apart and failing. Nowadays, uncertainty is the new normal. And the thing is, a lot of goodness is happening too. One might say “Problems are evolutionary drivers.” Or, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” So, what wants to be born through you?

I was in the audience some years ago when I heard Deepak Chopra suggest that the soul is most happy in uncertainty. An interesting thought to ponder. For me the unknown is that place from which what is authentic and eternal can be born. My sense is the invisible Infinite Self actually gets the biggest joy out of surprising us with what wants to be created through us in any moment.

We are officially in the fall season in the Northern Hemisphere, the focused time for the Lung-Large Intestine function and the metal or air element in Oriental Medicine. It is the season of letting go as the trees yield their fruits, plants yield their harvests and nature pulls its forces inward to gather strength from longer nights for the future springing forth again of light and new growth. Simultaneously with a natural letting go, is an equally natural receiving of the bounty that is being yielded, and a giving thanks.

I’d like to suggest that our present changing of seasons, of slowing down and allowing for recharging on some level may be the perfect time to consider the actual Impulse of evolution (Impulse with a capital “I”) emerging from the Eternal within you. Do you feel an inner urge for something beyond 2012? Taking guidance from nature, considering our personal evolution may have value now. This is important because I have discovered within myself that coping, maintaining and sustaining a reasonably comfortable life has not felt like enough. Something has been missing. However, when I consciously choose to evolve, everything changes.

What about you? Will your life, health, job and relationships shift from previously unthought-of thoughts, ideas and ways of being that support greater wholeness no matter what happens on Planet Earth? There you are. Seeing with evolutionary eyes is connecting with the unseen realm of spirit, bursting with infinite potentialities.

In preparing your body-mind-spirit to enter a period of inner solace this autumn, remember the Healing Touch Quick Steps “Comfortable Wherever You Are,” “Let Go, Let Go, Let Go,” “Happy Lungs,” and “Completing and Beginning.” You'll find this supportive energy medicine self-help in my "Instant Healing" book.

And speaking of evolution, author Andrew Cohen has a new book entitled Evolutionary Enlightenment: A New Path to Spiritual Awakening. Cohen redefines spiritual awakening for our contemporary world—a world characterized by exponential change and an ever-expanding appreciation for the processes of evolution.

Evolutionary Enlightenment offers a distinctly different view from many of today’s most popular spiritual paths, which emphasize “being in the present moment” in order to find peace and relief from the complexity of our fast-changing world. In contrast, Cohen treats change not as something to be avoided, or merely tolerated, but as an essential aspect of reality that needs to be consciously embraced.

Through five tenets for living an enlightened life, Cohen will empower you to wholeheartedly participate in the process of change as your own spiritual practice. For more information you can go here:

And finally, I saw the movie A Dolphin’s Tale today and I really recommend it. What a heart opening story, and deeply nurturing. Make your day a better one. When the heart feels love and kindness all is well.

I am sending you the very best for your health and wholeness. Take great self-care.
